The architectural proposal and city planning project revolve around the strong link between the new Media Library and the public space, and responds to the importance of the place for the city of Pila. In this sense, the project is not just a building, the Media Library, but rather a place that is expected to become a new area for meeting and interacting, for gathering information and knowledge, as well as for leisure and entertainment.
The public space runs right through the single-storey building along a diagonal axis which connects the Media Library with the nearby river. To achieve this, the project is deconstructed into two lineal parts. This provides a new accessible space intended for interaction in the centre of the building, covered by a glass lattice beam supported roof, open to the square and the river at each end.
